Kerkhoff Peucut - Dutch Soldiers Graves in Aceh War

Kerkhoff Peucut is grave Dutch soldiers who were killed in Aceh War. This cemetery is spread in many parts of Indonesia. One of them is located in the city of Banda Aceh, and is now an interesting tourist attraction, especially for international travelers (especially tourists from the Netherlands). Kerkoff Peucut is a Dutch military cemetery located outside the Balanda the largest in the world. In Dutch history, the war in Aceh is the most bitter wars in excess of their bitter experience during the Napoleonic Wars.

As we know that the Kingdom of Aceh and its people are very persistent against the Dutch. This resistance resulted in quite a long time many victims on both sides. Evidence of this history can be found in the Dutch cemetery this Kerkhoff. Here was buried about 2000 Dutch soldiers, and among them soldiers from the Javanese, Batak, Ambon and some other tribes that joined the soldiers in the Dutch East Indies Army. Kerkoff Peucut still well cared for. Until now the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands are very grateful to the people of Banda Aceh to treat with the cemetery tidy.

In the cemetery there Kerkhoff Peucut  General Kohler, also there is the tomb of the son of Sultan Iskandar Muda, namely Amat Popok, who committed adultery and sentenced to stoning.
